Lawmaker wants mining hearing in northern Wis.
A state lawmaker hopes Republicans will hold a hearing on the mining bill in northern Wisconsin, close to the site of a proposed iron ore mine.
Rep. Janet Bewley says people in that area deserve a chance to weigh in. The site of the proposed mine in Ashland and Iron counties is in the Ashland Democrat's district. She says it could have a major impact on the region.
Bewley says it would be very difficult for people to drive about seven hours to go to a hearing in Madison.
