PFC chair: Molitor right pick for G.B. chief

Green Bay's interim police chief is the choice to become the department's permanent leader.

The city's police and fire commission chair, Rod Goldhahn, says Tom Molitor spent more than 20 years working his way through the ranks of the department before retiring in 2011. He says Molitor's work as the interim chief showed that he's the right person for the job.

Goldhahn says about 50 people from across the country applied for the job. He says a few factors convinced Molitor to stay out of retirement, including his desire to continue the intelligence-based policing program that he helped start.

Molitor became the interim chief last July. Former chief Jim Arts left the department to become the head of security for the NFL's Tennessee Titans.
