L.C. woman in court for texting death

A Little Chute woman accused of hitting a bicyclist, while texting behind the wheel, made her first court appearance this morning.

A court commissioner set bond at $15,000 for 19-year-old Pa Tou Xiong. She's charged with homicide by negligent driving for the July 28th accident that left 46-year-old James Weiss of Kimberly, dead.

Court records say Xiong was driving home from work, along Kimberly Avenue, shortly after midnight, and she was sending and receiving texts.

Xiong told investigators she didn't see anyone, when she hit Weiss, and she called 911.

A co-worker who was driving behind Xiong says her car was drifting to the right, before he saw sparks, and Weiss laying in the road.

Weiss died about a week later from his injuries.

Xiong will be back in court on January 30th.
