State orders audit of UW-System
The UW-System's finances are going under
the microscope.
The Legislature's joint audit committee voted unanimously yesterday to conduct a full review of the UW, in the wake of a year-end fiscal report. It showed that the human resources department overpaid for pension and health care benefits by at least $33 million.
Sen. Rob Cowles led the charge for the audit, and he says it's going to be a full-blown examination. The Green Bay Republican says they're going to start in the next few days, and it could take up to four months to finish.
He says he hopes auditors don't find any more major problems, and UW-President Kevin Reilly needs to take some disciplinary action against the person responsible for the already disclosed errors.
