Valley Transit ridership climbed in 2012
For the third year in a row, Valley Transit saw an increase in ridership.
General manager Deborah Wetter says they provided nearly 1.1 million rides in 2012, falling just short of their 1995 record.
She says their nighttime ridership jumped by 23 percent, to more than 140,000. Valley Transit has a partnership with Appleton schools, to provide rides to students, and those totals climbed nearly 14 percent.
Wetter says even though ridership was up, revenues were down one percent, to $825,000.
Wetter says they saw a nearly three-percent drop in sales of pre-paid passes. She says she's not surprised, because they had heard earlier in the year that some non-profits had very tight budgets.
