Outagamie Co. task force cracks down on OWI
Officers on the Outagamie County OWI task force arrested nearly 80 drunk drivers last year, during almost 20 special enforcement efforts.
Capt. Todd Freeman of the Appleton police department says officers from several departments make up the group that patrols various areas of the county.
Since the task force was created last May, Freeman says they've been out-and-about in Appleton nine times, and they've made 45 OWI arrests in the city. He says they've also targeted two rural towns in the county, as well as Grand Chute, Kaukauna, Kimberly, and Little Chute.
A state grant covers the cost of the extra patrols.
Freeman provided an update on the task force to the city's safety and licensing committee yesterday afternoon.
