Symphony to perform lost pieces
A lost piece from a former dean of Lawrence University's conservatory of music will return to the stage for the first time, tomorrow night.
The Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra will perform a "Suite on Children's Tunes" by LaVahn Maesch at its latest concert.
Music director Brian Groner says a friend in Louisiana found the score, and a Lawrence student recreated it, in digital form. He says it was missing for 17 years.
He says their Fox Valley horns are also going to play a lost piece from British composer Benjamin Britten. It will be the first performance in the U.S. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
