Local schools to share 40,000 books
Two local school districts are splitting a truckload of 40,000 books, after winning a national contest.
Nan Bunnow of the Appleton school district says they joined forces with Menasha schools to win the prize from the First Book organization. That group helps get new books into the hands of students who come from low-income families. Bunnow says they won, by signing up 300 teachers to participate.
She says those teachers will get about 120 books each. Some will stay in the classroom, but many will go home with students.
Bunnow says the books are coming on Wednesday, and they'll be in the hands of the teachers, by the weekend.
