WDC: Mining supports outspend opponents
Supporters of the proposed mining bill contributed nearly $16 million to Republican lawmakers over a two-year period.
That's the finding of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.
Executive director Mike McCabe says mining opponents were outspent, 610-to-1 between 2010 and 2012.
He says Governor Walker and GOP members of the Legislature took the campaign cash from a number of groups, including the construction, banking, and manufacturing industries.
The groups weren't just lobbying for the mining bill over that two-year period. They weighed in on a number of issues that lawmakers considered at the Capitol.
