Appleton reveals open enrollment situation
Parents can start applying for open enrollment, next week, but there will be some restrictions in place, in Appleton.
Assistant superintendent Val Dreier says six of the
15 elementary schools won't have enough room next year. She says they do have spots at the middle and high schools, for general students.
Dreier says their special education programs are going to be full, so they're only accepting candidates at the high school level, in the program for cognitively disabled students.
She says the restrictions only apply to new candidates.
Dreier had to present a report to the school board last night, under a new state law. She says they have to reveal how much room they have, before the open enrollment period starts.
The application deadline for open enrollment is April 30.
