Outside jury to hear Door Co. murder case
The judge in a Door County murder case ruled today that an out-of-town jury will hear the trial of an Illinois man, charged with killing his pregnant friend.
36-year-old Brian Cooper faces two counts of first-degree international homicide for the deaths of 21-year-old Alisha Bromfield and her unborn child. His attorney argued that Cooper couldn't get a fair trial, with a Door County jury, because of extensive media coverage, and the judge agreed.
Court records say the 36-year-old Cooper strangled Bromfield at a Door County resort last August. They were there for a wedding, and prosecutors say he wanted to have a romantic relationship with her, but she didn't feel the same way.
