Appleton online school growing
Leaders of an Appleton-based online school are looking forward to the start of the state's open enrollment period.
Parents can start applying today, if they want to send their kids to a different district.
Wisconsin Connections Academy Principal Michelle Mueller says right now, they have about 600 students. She says the decision two years ago, to expand to the high school level, has helped boost enrollment totals at all grade levels.
The academy is a charter school in the Appleton district, and it's located in the Morgan building, on the north end of the downtown.
The state department of public instruction projects that more than 41,000 students in Wisconsin will participate in the open enrollment program in the next school year. That's up from about 37,000 students in the current one.
The deadline to apply is April 30.
