More UW-Osh students, staff ride city buses

UW-Oshkosh and GO Transit saw a big increase last year, in the number of student and staffers who use the city's bus system.

University spokesman Alex Hummel says they accounted for almost 102,000 rides, and that's up 18 percent from 2011. He says that's a good sign, given the school's focus on sustainability.

City transportation director Chris Strong says UW-Oshkosh riders have to show their "TitanCard," and the bus system will bill the university. He says that works out well, for both sides.

Strong says UW-Oshkosh accounted for a little more than 10 percent of GO Transit's overall ridership.
