Rep. Bernard Schaber rides the bus
An Appleton Democrat spent part of her morning on a Valley Transit bus, to highlight "Transit Week," and talk with riders.

Bernard Schaber is joining Republican Sen. Mike Ellis of Neenah, and Republican Rep. Jim Steineke of Vandenbroek, to push a regional transit authority bill for the Fox Cities. The RTA would be able to raise the sales tax, by up to a half-cent, to help fund Valley Transit, if voters approve a referendum.
Previous attempts to create a Fox Valley RTA failed to get through the Legislature.
