Walker aide floats sales, income tax shift
Governor Walker is backing up a bit from talk of dramatically raising the
state's sales tax, and eliminating income taxes.
One of his top aides, department of administration secretary Mike Huebsch said earlier this week that it's something the governor was considering.
Huebsch says in order to do that, they might have to raise Wisconsin's sales tax to 13 percent. Right now, it's five percent.
Governor Walker says he won't include the idea in his proposed budget. He says he's open to a broader discussion on tax policy, later on. Right now, Walker says he's focusing on a middle-class tax cut that's funded through the state's budget surplus.
