Statue, street named to honor Driver
The city of Green Bay is making sure Donald Driver's legacy lives on, now that his playing days are over.
During Driver's retirement ceremony yesterday, Mayor Jim Schmitt announced that a short street near the Titletown Brewing Company will be renamed "Donald Driver Way."
The popular 22-foot-tall "The Receiver" statue that sits there will also be refurbished. Schmitt says they're going to change the number on the statue from 88 to 80, and the name "Packer" on the back will become "Driver." The statue stood for years outside of the Packers Hall of Fame.
Schmitt also gave Driver a key to the city.
Governor Walker was also at the ceremony, and he declared yesterday "Donald Driver Day" in Wisconsin.
