Permits show growth in Appleton in 2012
The city of Appleton is coming off a bounce-back
year for growth.
A report from the inspections division shows the number of building permits rose by a half-percent in 2012, and the value of the projects jumped by more than six percent, to about $49 million.
Public works director Paula Vandehey says those figures declined over the last couple of years. She says the turnaround is a sign that the economy is improving, and they hope the trend will continue.
The inspections division handles eight different project permits, including electrical, plumbing, and heating. The overall number of permits rose by almost five percent, and the city took in an additional $50,000 in revenue.
