Neenah schools receive state honor

The state is recognizing two schools in Neenah for the success of their students.

Roosevelt elementary and the Alliance Charter school are among nine Title 1 schools in the state to have high tests scores, and show significant improvement. Title 1 schools have a significant number of low-income students.

The two schools are in the same building, and Principal Philip Johnson says it's humbling to be singled out.

Johnson says they're doing a lot of the same things that other schools are, but the partnership between Roosevelt and Alliance might help set them apart. He says they're able to share resources, including staff.

Johnson says that means they can provide more individual attention, and get to know the families better.
