Coast Guard starting rescue drill on Green Bay

Don't be alarmed if you see bodies laying on the ice on parts of Green Bay.

The Coast Guard is starting a two-week training program on the Bay, today, and they're using mannequins. Coordinator Don Decker says rescue crews will try to find the most cost effective ways to search for people, while doing the most thorough job possible. He says they want to develop grid searches that maximize fuel consumption.

Decker says the drill will cover an eight-square mile portion of Green Bay, stretching from Dykesville to Suamico. He says the public will see emergency crews in those areas.

He says they'll have about 20 mannequins on the ice during the drills.  Decker says some of the training will happen during the day, but they'll also be working at night.
