Congressman Ribble reacts to Obama address
A Republican lawmaker has mixed reactions to President Obama's State of the Union address.
Eighth District Congressman Reid Ribble of Sherwood says he agrees with the president's call for some Medicare reforms, and changes to the tax code. But he can't support other proposals, like increasing the minimum wage from $7.25-an-hour to $9-an-hour. Ribble says he's taking a wait-and-see approach on creating "manufacturing hubs."
President Obama proposed starting a number of programs aimed at education, energy independence, and creating jobs, but Ribble doubts the president's claim that his plan wouldn't add to the deficit.
Ribble also would like to see troops come home from Afghanistan as soon as possible, instead of in a tiered draw down.
