Teen ticketed for hitting crossing guard, child
Appleton police are ticketing a 16-year-old girl for an accident Wednesday morning, that left a crossing guard with a
broken leg, and bruised a 10-year-old child's arm.
Sgt. Dave Lund says the driver hit them while the crossing guard was helping the child cross a street near McKinley elementary school. He says the girl was speeding and her windshield was covered with frost, except for an area about the size of a basketball. Lund says the accident should be a wake up call for drivers.
He says the girl is getting tickets for speeding in a school zone, and failing to yield to pedestrians.
