City making progress on skate park plans

The city of Appleton is going to hire a consultant to come up with plans to build a skate park in Appleton's Telulah Park.

Parks and recreation director Dean Gazza says they're in the process of selecting a firm to develop the design of the facility. He says they're going to hold some community meetings to get some input.

The city's parks and recreation committee approved an agreement yesterday, ith the Appleton Skate Park group, to create a public-private partnership. Gazza says that group is starting its fundraising efforts.

Gazza says construction could start in 2014.
