Agency warns of Valentine's Day scams
The head of the state's consumer protection department admits it's a downer to have to warn people about possible scams on a day like this. But Sandy Chalmers says crooks don't take a break on Valentine's Day.
She says there are some red flags to watch out for, including when someone wants to state communication outside of a dating website, and use email or instant messaging instead. Chalmers says another is if someone asks for money.
Chalmers says when couples just start dating, they should be careful about privacy issues, and how much personal information they're sharing.
