Governor opposes voucher referendum idea
Governor Walker says he doesn't support the idea of taking
his proposal to expand school vouchers to a referendum in each affected district.
He says that doesn't do parents much good, if their child is in a school that's failing to meet expectations.
Walker says even if a district qualifies for school choice, it doesn't mean there aren't good public schools in that area. He says in Green Bay, some schools are exceeding expectations.
Walker says he'd be willing to listen to proposals to possibly narrow the vouchers to students who are in failing schools.
He was in Appleton last night to speak at the Outagamie County Republican Party's Lincoln Day dinner.
