Walker to unveil proposed state budget
The state is in a much different fiscal environment now,
compared to when Governor Walker gave his first budget address two years ago.
In 2011, Wisconsin faced a $3.6 billion deficit, now there's a surplus of more than $400 million.
UW-Madison political science professor Charles Franklin thinks Walker will talk about that accomplishment while he outlines his spending plan tonight.
The governor will officially unveil his budget before a joint session of the Legislature tonight.
Franklin says he expects a few surprises, but nothing like two years ago, when the governor included his collective bargaining proposal in a budget repair bill.
