LGBT advocate spreads anti-bullying message
Another group of students in the area will hear about the impact bullying can have on LGBT classmates.
National advocate Jamie Nabozny is speaking in New London today, and it's his final stop on a tour of local schools. The visits are a part of the month-old INCLUDE initiative that's trying to change attitudes about the LGBT community.
Nabozny grew up in Ashland, and he's the subject of the documentary Bullied.
Jesse Heffernan of Harmony Cafe says Nabozny has a strong message, and it's great that schools have opened up their doors to him.
Nabozny spoke at UW-Fox Valley last night, following a public screening of the documentary.
Heffernan says they're going to put together several more events for INCLUDE, through mid-April.
