State job market dips in 3rd Q
New figures from the state show the job market slipped a bit in the third quarter of last year.
The department of workforce development is filing more thorough job numbers with the federal bureau of labor statistics, and they show a loss of 14,500 private-sector jobs, during the third quarter. There was decline of 31,000 positions in the public and private sectors.
The totals are not seasonally adjusted, and the end of the summer tourism season was a likely factor.
Total wages also fell by 1.8 percent.
From September of last year to September of 2011, the state added nearly 20,500 private-sector jobs. That's down from the June-to-June increase of nearly 35,400 positions.
