Panel to consider mining bill today
The Legislature's budget committee is set to vote on 
a bill today to streamline the permitting process for mines, and an opponent says it includes a drastic change to an environmental law.
Democratic Rep. Fred Clark of Sauk City says the proposal could have a major impact on waterways near mines. He says it's one of the pieces of the mining bill that would invite lawsuits.
The Senate is expected to vote on the proposal Wednesday, and the Assembly could take it up next week.
