Woman arrested for Waupaca Co. robberies

A 34-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she tried to rob two Waupaca County businesses this morning, and managed to get money from a third.

Waupaca police Lt. Goeff Johnson say the first attempted robbery happened around 3 a.m. when a woman walked into the Grand Seasons Hotel, along Hwy. 54. He says she claimed to have a weapon, and demanded money, but she left empty handed.

Officers were called again shortly after 10 a.m. when a woman with the same description tried to rob Primrose Gardens and Gifts in Manawa. She left when the owner said he didn't have any money, and the business owner took a picture of her license plate as she drove away.

Johnson says less than a half-hour later, the woman struck again at Feminine Touch clothing store in Waupaca, where she tied up a worker and stole money. An officer spotted the suspect's car a short time later in a Hardee's parking lot, and arrested a 34-year-old woman.

Johnson says investigators think she was also invovled in two other Waupaca robberies. One happened last week, the other was last April.
