Most stores accurately charging customers
A state report shows the tools retailers use to measure their products are pretty accurate.
Consumer protection department administrator Sandy Chalmers says inspectors checked gas pumps, prices scanners, scales, and package weights at almost seven-thousand locations during 2012.
Inspectors found most of those devices had an accuracy rate of about 97 percent. Chalmers says in most cases, when they were off, they favored consumers.
The accuracy rate for gas pumps across the state was 99.5 percent.
