Jewelers Mutual celebrating 100 years

A jewelry insurance company, that started when local jewelry stores couldn't get fire insurance, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Jewelers Mutual CEO Darwin Copeman says the Neenah-based company grew slowly until the mid-1970s, but the pace picked up after that. He says Jewelers Mutual now has more than $260 million in assets, and over 200 employees.

Copeman says the rapid growth should continue for the foreseeable future, because much of their target market remains untapped.

Neenah Mayor George Scherck joined company leaders late this morning, to mark the anniversary.
