Bishop reacts to pick of Pope Francis

The head of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese says he was surprised by the selection of Pope Francis.

Bishop David Ricken watched the announcement on TV, with some staff members. He says the first thing he thought when he heard the name Cardinal Jorge Bergolio was, "Who?." The bishop says he didn't expect the Cardinals to make a decision today.

Ricken says Pope Francis could help bring more Hispanics to the church. He says that's something his staff members have been working on already.

Ricken is speculating that Pope Francis's name could have a connection to the Green Bay diocese. The cathedral is Green Bay is named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit missionary. Ricken says the pope is also a Jesuit, so it would make sense if he picked Francis because of that saint.
