Walker signs jobs bill in Oshkosh
Technical colleges and universities could soon get grant
money for programs that train students for high-demand careers.
Governor Walker signed a bill to do that, during a stop at Jay Manufacturing in Oshkosh yesterday afternoon. He says the $15 million in training grants could be used for several fields.
Jay Manufacturing president Matt Jameson says a lot of people in his industry have open jobs, but they can't find people to fill them. He says without a major initiative from the state, the problem could get much worse in the near future.
The bill also creates a database that will help fill high-demand jobs, more quickly.
