Girls basketball tourney tips off in G.B.

The first girls state high school basketball tournament outside of Madison tips off today at the Resch Center in Green Bay, and the three-day event could pump $3 million into the local economy.

Brad Toll is the president of the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau. He says restaurants are looking forward to the boost in business, and many have posters up, welcoming the athletes and their fans. Toll says hotels that are hosting teams are also decorating their lobbies in team colors.

The WIAA signed a two-year contract with the Resch Center, to move from Madison on a trial basis. Toll says having a major mid-March event, is a great kickoff to their busy season.

Toll says he feels local business, and the Resch Center, are well-prepared for the basketball tournament.
