Shelter adding next-door park
There are plans for a new park, next door to the New Community Shelter in Green Bay, and a business group is getting involved in the project.
Dan Terrio of Leadership Green Bay says they're building the "Garden of Hope" on the site of a former auto body shop, at the corner of Broadway and Mather Street.
He says people from the shelter will use raised gardens, to grow food for the community meal program. They'll also have benches, and areas for counseling sessions.
Terrio says the park would also be open to the public. He says they hope to build the gardens, in June.
