Judge won't toss Neenah school benefits suit
A federal court case against Neenah schools,
over retirement benefits, will continue.
Six retired administrators are suing the school board, and U.S. District Judge William Griesbach rejected a request from the school district to dismiss the case.
The district changed its benefit policy more than a year ago, forcing administrators to use part of their pension to pay for a share of their health insurance premiums, if they didn't want to switch to a lower-cost plan. The retirees argued that the requirement goes too far.
The district covers the cost of health insurance, until retirees are eligible for Medicare.
The school board also scaled back the benefits for teachers, last October.
