Appleton to work on tennis courts
The city of Appleton is going renovate, or rebuild some
tennis courts in neighborhood parks this year.
That comes a couple of years after some talked about removing many of those courts, and focusing on the ones in the larger parks.
Parks and facilities director Dean Gazza says they're going to resurface the courts at Green Meadows and Einstein parks, and replace them at Summit Park.
He says they will remove two courts at City Park. Gazza says they're talking with Lawrence University about opening its courts to the public, to offset that.
He says he's also been meeting with a group that formed a couple years ago, to raise money to save neighborhood tennis courts. He says the city is trying to find the best spots for courts.
There are 24 neighborhood parks in Appleton, and including City Park, six of them have tennis courts.
