Hwy. 96 work starts in L.C.
More road construction is coming to Highway 96 in the Heart of the Valley.
DOT crews replaced a portion of the road in Kaukauna last year, and this summer they'll work on a 1-1/2 mile stretch in Little Chute.
The actual road project won't start until June or July, but Little Chute public works director Roy Van Gheem says they already shut down the road for utility projects. He says utilities are replacing gas and water mains in the area, and the cable and phone companies are also doing some work.
He says the road will remain closed from the village's eastern border, to Jackson Street, into November.
He says the utility and road work will cost nearly $9 million.
