Spring off to frosty start

Below-zero wind chills ushered in the first day of spring, and officials at the National Weather Service say today's high temperature would be closer to normal for January 20, than March 20.

Meteorologist Roy Eckberg of the Green Bay office says they expect today's high will be in the low 20s. He says the typical high temperature at this time of year is in the 40s.

Eckberg says this March is set to be the seventh-coldest in our area, and the below-normal temperatures are expected to continue at least into next week.

For now, he says the best we can do is remember last March, when the mercury topped 80 on one or two days.
Appleton's high temperature on March 20, last year, was 81.
