Poll shows split on voucher expansion
Opinions on Governor Walker's proposal to expand the state's voucher program for private schools are split.
That's the finding of a poll released today by the Marquette University law school.
Poll director Charles Franklin says 51 percent support expanding the program in some form, while 42 percent want to either freeze or discontinue it. But he says he's not sure how firmly they hold those views, because people were first asked about their thoughts about voucher schools, and 49 percent said they had no opinion.
The poll also dealt with the gun control issue. Franklin says more than 80 percent of gun owners, and non-gun owners, support background checks for all gun purchases.
He says opinions varied more about an assault weapons ban. He says a majority of gun owners oppose the ban, while most non-gun owners support one.
