Librarian will reach out to Hmong community
In hopes of improving the reading scores of young
Hmong students, the Appleton Public Library is adding a part-time librarian.
Children's services supervisor Tanya Misselt says Yee Vue will sit down with parents and caregivers to introduce them to the library. She says Vue will stress the importance of reading to children, so they're ready for kindergarten.
She says Vue will be one of a handful of specialized Hmong librarians in the country. The library received a $15,000 grant to hire Vue.
