Appleton hires new IT director
Appleton's new IT director is in place, and the city
will cover moving expenses.
Dean Fox has been the interim director, and he'll have a year to move into the city to comply with residency rules.
Mayor Tim Hanna agreed to pay for Fox's realtor fees, and moving costs, because Fox recently bought a house about 10 miles outside of Appleton. Hanna believes the fees could cost $15,000, and the moving expenses would be another $5,000.
The city council wouldn't budge on its residency rules for city department heads, but Governor Walker included a provision in his budget, to eliminate them. The city wouldn't have to pay for the move, if the proposal stays in the budget, and Fox hasn't sold his house yet.
