Death of Andy Williams

Wednesday, Sep, 26 2012

It's not really Christmas until I hear him singing "It's the most wonderful time of the year..."

Andy Williams died last night at the age of 84 after battling bladder cancer for about a year.

That single song is one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs.

And if you are old enough to remember them, his Christmas specials on television were the best. Anyone who was anyone would want to be a guest on Andy's Christmas special each year.

There was a warm-fuzzy about him and those specials bring back great memories of Christmas for me each time I see them.

And now, thanks to YouTube, it is easier than ever to enjoy timeless, classic Andy Williams.

One of the great ones.

Sadness in Seattle

Tuesday, Sep, 25 2012

I am biting my tongue (or maybe in this case since I am typing, my fingers) at this point on the Monday Night Football result.

You'll just have to tune in to "Pack Yak" at 3:00 on the PhilCast today to hear my take, which includes a couple of notes I'm not hearing in the discussion at this point.

...

Also Tuesday, we reveal the next big PhilCast adventure coming in 2013.

Yes, we're hitting the road again. Details from our guests today after the 4:30 newscast.

Sports sandwich

Monday, Sep, 24 2012

The PhilCast will be a short sports sandwich on Monday.

We'll be on for an hour or so after the Brewers' game and before the Packers' pre-game on WHBY.

Can't wait to leave all those people sleepless in Seattle tonight after the Packers put one on the Seahawks.

TV time of year

Friday, Sep, 21 2012

It's the official end of summer and that means it's TV time.

The Emmy Awards are on ABC Sunday night, although it seems to me the same shows win every year for the same thing.

Although much of prime-time TV is a reality-show wasteland to me now, I must admit I tend to start watching more TV this time of year as the temps begin to drop and the sun sets earlier.

But it's not like it used to be. I used to watch good one-hour drama shows from 9-10 at night. Now, not so much.

But on the PhilCast today I'll start with some TV talk, including a review of some things I saw last night...a trend in TV shows that is actually getting me hooked now...plus....

I'll ask the question, "What is your must-watch TV show right now and why?"

Feel free to call in and lets do some "TV TALK" today on the PC.

Then at 4:00 it's "Chadoin' This Weekend?", when you can share your plans or plug an event by calling the show live or pre-posting up at the PhilCast Facebook fan page.
