Pain at the pump
Monday, Feb, 20 2012
Get ready 'cause here it comes.
I'll be talking about gas prices during the first hour of the PhilCast today because we're about to take a double hit at the pump.
First of all, spring is nearing, a time when the people who produce our gas have to switch to a summer blend, another way of saying they make the 'good stuff' that's more expensive for us to use.
Second of all there is the little matter of Iran, all into a tizz and pulling the plug on the Brits and the French...something about some fighting over 'alleged' nukes they're working on.
Look, the bottom line here is that this one-two punch for us could mean that the average price of a gallon around here this spring could hit $4.25, and that would be a record.
TV news today too...from SNL to the Colbert Report and more.
Talk to you at 3-ish.

Silly Sign
Thursday, Feb, 16 2012
Oh come on now!
Sometimes it seems like something is so silly it can't be true. But in this case in Michigan it is.
Here is the picture to prove it.
I'll have the story on the Thursday PhilCast of course...but I wanted to post the picture to make sure you understand how truly goofy this speed limit sign is!
Also on the Thursday showgrum, big changes in the Monday Night Football booth...the jobs with the biggest and least stress...most dependable vehicles...and rowing naked across the Atlantic.
Talk to you at 3:00!

Remembering Vivi
Wednesday, Feb, 15 2012
As you probably know by now I was, shall we say, less than thrilled with the final outcome of my beloved Westminster Dog Show last night.
If you didn't hear our real-time reaction as I recorded it you can give it a listen off my Facebook page.
Of course I'll be going over all this on the Wednesday PhilCast show.
I received an email from a long-time listener now living in Arkansas that I will also be reading. She brought up an old bit I used to do about the search for Vivi at this time of year.
Poor Vivi. Or maybe not?
Remember the speedy whippet got away from airport workers at Kennedy as she was about to leave from the dog show.
They never found Vivi.
But the entire story has brought some good however, which I will talk about on the show today as well.
Next up on my list of annual things to make a fuss over--the national spelling bee, and there is some news about that locally that we'll also be covering on the show today.
Later.
