Hump Day

Friday, Jun, 15 2012

Happy Hump Day.
What are these two women accused of doing on a golf course?

I'll have the answer to that in the PhilCast "Last" segment of the show today.

Also, Graceland marks 30 years and I'll have some Elvis playing while we discuss.

The ban of the big gulp drinks in NYC has taken another step toward reality at the same time that Burger King introduces a bacon sundae. Ironic.

Huge news from the Tour de France, where a favorite and former winner is OUT of the competition that begins in just a couple of weeks. I'll have a TdF update and reminder about the up-coming "Pick the Podium" contest we always do in the month of July.

And how did my very first experience with Craig's list go down last night? Gotta listen this afternoon!

You go girl

Elizabeth Kramer.
What? Never heard of her?
Then you better catch the podcast version of the Monday PhilCast because you'll know then that she is my pick to win it all at the Miss Wisconsin pageant this weekend.

Yes, by using a highly-scientific methodology known as what I call my 'mad skills at calling pageants' I have determined that Elizabeth here should win it all.

Various competitions are taking place during the week, including talent, questions, swimsuits and evening gowns.

Then Saturday night it's for real in front of the audience and judges.

Don't forget that our current Miss America is a Miss Wisconsin, so our winners have gone on to great things.
I am not sure what it is about these shows, but when one comes on TV I watch it. That's why I wish the state's version was on TV. It used to be on public TV back in the day.

And how about adding an eating competition to the contest? On this day of the big 'brat summit' in Madison I could totally see a Miss Wisconsin brat-eating challenge as part of Saturday night's competition. Now that would be some good TV!

Rate your weekend

What do you give your weekend on a 1-10 scale?

It sure was a 10 in terms of temperature. Did you do the Bellin? Go to the Flag Day Parade?
"Howz Yer Weekend?"

Give us a call today on the PhilCast and let us know about your weekend. And if you can not call, email me, post up on the PhilCast Fan Page, or shoot me a tweet to be read on the show.

Loving the hot summer weather as much as I do my weekend probably should have been a 10, but some bad news came into the family Sunday so the '10' will have to wait.

We'll chat on the show this afternoon.

And if you can't call then post at the PhilCast Facebook fan page and we'll read about it during the segment. Just CLICK HERE to post your Chadoin'. The Appleton Flag Day Parade is one big event coming up this weekend, and we'll talk live to the head of the parade in the 3:00 hour today.

We'll also be talking to the president of the T-Rats about the new expansion project that's planned for Fox Cities Stadium. That will kick off the show today.

Add a tasty and summer-refreshing recipe from Pipa in Appleton and you've got a Friday showgrum.

On the road

Thursday, Jun, 7 2012

Short but fun...two hours of the show Wednesday from the big business expo in Appleton at the Paper Valley Hotel.

That's Shannon Full, whom you head interviewed in the 3:00 hour of the Wednesday PhilCast.

I met some new members of the PhilCast Family who made an effort to come out and say hi which is always nice.

Among the interesting things I was told:
--"Tell 'em less commercials and more of you."
--"I love when you play those callers who don't like the show."
--"Is that Reggie?" (no, it was our on-site engineer Evan)
--"Welcome to the Valley. I listened to you all the time in Milwaukee."
(heard that one a lot, which is great)
--"Is that Reggie?"

Go Brewers....Brewers' baseball on HBY Thursday afternoon, so the PhilCast will be shortened quite a bit. But coming out of the game we are going to play a feature about baseball that I think fans will find very interesting.
