Plans of mice and broadcasters
Tuesday, Jul, 17 2012
Over 30 years as a broadcaster. You think you've seen it all. Nope. Here's the scoop on WI Farm Tech Days and the live PhilCast that wasn't Tuesday.

Once this sky moved in we thought there might be issues with us having set up a complete studio outside under a tent. That's because the tent felt like it was about to blow away at times when this blew in.
I had driven all the way to New London from Milwaukee Tuesday morning and spent a couple of very HOT hours getting the lay of the land along with a couple of recorded interviews.
At least I scored a PhilCast exclusive one-on-one with Governor Scott Walker which was pretty funny.
We had about a half-dozen guests lined up to join me live from 3-5 from there Tuesday. In fact when the voice came on the loudspeaker announcing that due to weather the grounds needed to be evacuated immediately I was sitting there talking to one of the owners of the land this monster of a show is being held on. He said to me, "Well, I guess the interview is canceled." Yup.
Two golf cart rides and a bus ride later I got to my parked car and joined the mass exit...only to have to drive through a driving rain at times as I headed back to the radio station in Appleton.
Turns out not eating a thing all day (not a thing) left me really hungry too. At 7:00-ish I finally sat down to eat....TWICE. I'll tell the story on the show today after the Brewers' game on WHBY.
What a Tuesday it was!

Farmer Phil
Tuesday, Jul, 17 2012
Wisconsin Farm Technology Days opens today near New London and I'll be down on the farm as Farmer Phil all day long.
The PhilCast will be broadcasting live from the WHBY booth near the media tent area....about in the middle of the whole shootin' match. Stop over and say hi if there. And listen today to hear all sorts of interviews and chat related to all things farming from 3-5.

Weekend?
Sunday, Jul, 15 2012
Old cars.Yeah, that was fun in Iola, Wisconsin over the weekend.
My favorite old car?
Not this one, but it was close.
I'll cover that on the Monday showgrum for sure.
Lets just say it was HOT out there on Friday.
Old boats.
Too rich for my blood but it's at least fun to look at on a hot afternoon.
Iced-cold beer and iced cream were purchased, but no boats for me here.
And speaking of sweet treats, no trip to Iola each summer is complete without a stop at the Crystal Cafe for not only the fantastic pie but an iced-cold milk from the tapper to wash it down.
I can tell you this much....she usually never finishes all her food, which gives me a shot at sampling some leftovers.
Not in this case.
"Howz Yer Weekend?" We'll talk weekends in the first hour of the Monday show.
Call in live 281-1150 or 1-866-887-1150 the Red Ox PhilPhone numbers....or if you can not call just post up on our PC Facebook page HERE.

On the road
Wednesday, Jul, 11 2012
Thursday and Friday of this week will feature an extra hour of the Clark Howard show before a shortened 'best-of' PhilCast hits the air. I'm on the road to visit the Iola Old Car Show once again, an annual ritual of summer for me.
I'll be filing a report or two from there for the Friday show. And I'll have brief Tour de France updates for you on both days as well.
Meantime, Associate Producer Peel will be running things as Reggie is also on the road in San Diego at the Comic Con extravaganza. He too may be filing a report of two for Peel to play on the show.
So even though we're not there, we kinda are...so listen and check out what we come up with from on the road.
Have a great weekend and we'll chat live next on Monday for full reports during our "Howz Yer Weekend?" segment.
