The spider thing

Wednesday, May, 8 2013

It's a spider.
The governor of New Jersey squished it in front of some school kids touring his office.
Big deal.

PETA is trying to make it a big deal anyway....sort of....complaining now that the gov should have captured and released the spider to set an example for the kids.

I repeat: It's a spider.
That is all.

HowzYer Weekend?

Monday, May, 6 2013

As usual we ease into the PhilCast broadcast week with some weekend chat today during "HowzYer Weekend?"

Mine featured getting new glasses, cutting the grass for the first time this spring and an awesome 50-mile bike ride that took me past this giant cow at the former Golden Gurnsey plant.

Talk to you this afternoon.

Derby time

Friday, May, 3 2013

Derby time and if I'm right about this, a horse name 'Orb' is the favorite.

Me?

I'm not into horse racing.
I'm not into gambling.
I don't drink mint juleps.

But I DO have the info about the horses and one heck of an expensive mint julep to share with you on the Friday PhilCast.

Oh, and I guess it's not really the Kentucky Derby any more either.

I think it's the
'Grade I Kentucky Derby, Presented by Yum! Brands' that will be run Saturday.

I wonder how the Indy 500 has managed to remain just the Indy 500 at this point?!

Kids+guns=tragedy

Thursday, May, 2 2013

It's billed as a .22 rifle for kids.

In this case, someone gave a rifle to a kid in Kentucky, a kid that is only five years old.

He accidentally shot his two-year-old sister dead.

The Cricket. They've even given it a name.

Is it just me?

This is insane. Five years old. If you want your son to have a gun at five, how about giving him a toy gun instead of a real one that can kill?

Really? A rifle with a cute name to a five-year-old? And now his baby sister is dead. How's that all working out for the family now?

More during the Thursday PhilCast.
