Little Chute woman should get the maximum

Tuesday, Jan, 22 2013

STOP IT!

I have little to no sympathy for people who are foolish enough to text while driving.

A young woman from Little Chute's life will never be the same.

A cyclist is dead.

I hope that was a real important message she was reading when she hit and killed him this past summer.

Now she's facing what could be a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Like I said, I hope that text message was worth it.

As a cyclist who rides a road bike for a few thousand miles a season out there on the streets I know it can be a dangerous sport. But my life shouldn't be in the hands of someone who isn't paying attention to driving a few thousand pounds of steel down the road because he or she is more focused on some silly messaging going on at the time.

Stop it.

Stop it now.

More about this on the Tuesday PhilCast show.

Baby it's cold outside...

Monday, Jan, 21 2013

I'm no fan of this cold weather.

There should be a name for it that goes beyond cold when it's dangerous.

I can think of a few names to call it, but they are not fit for print here.

Furnaces, cars, pets, and of course those among us without a roof over their heads...all will be talked about to start the PhilCast Monday with a series of interviews with experts in each one of those areas.

It's a triple-header of days today too...Blue Monday, Inauguration Day, MLK Day. That, plus I have a story about some great customer service to share during "Howz Yer Weekend?" today...it involves a rather unique drink I found over the weekend...

I know it may sound odd at first blush, but this sparkling cucumber drink was really refreshing and quite good.

Eating out less these days?

Friday, Jan, 18 2013

The "Buzzer" Marureen Wallenfang drops by the PhilCast this afternoon at 3:30-ish to talk about one of her recent columns in the Post-Crescent regarding people eating out at restaurants less these days.

Are you? If so, why? She's got the buzz on local restaurant 'stuff' as well.

4:20-ish=The Watters Plumbing "Drip of the Week"
4:45-ish=The "ReciPIPPA the Week"

And I start Friday's show with my take on what I saw from Lance Armstrong last night with Oprah. You might be surprised because I've got some high praise ready to let loose on a couple of fronts.

Where to see the Lance Armstrong interview

Thursday, Jan, 17 2013

Tonight at 8:00 Oprah airs the first of her two-part, two-night interview with Lance Armstrong.

If you, like me, do not get her OWN television network any longer (thank you for that by the way Time/Warner Cable) you can watch it streamed live at her web site also.

Click Here to get to that.

This huge TV event and THAT's the background for the shot? In front of a hotel window with glasses with straws in them. Nice.

Every Wednesday I'll have some healthy-eating and/or weight loss stories to start the PhilCast as well.

Today I have a story with a list of foods that will actually help you lose weight and get in shape.
