So close to a Bo Derek

Tuesday, Sep, 4 2012

I came so close to a Bo Derek, a perfect 10 for my Labor Day weekend, but alas perfection eludes me once again. Since the weekend doesn't really end for me until I go to bed Monday night I have to include what happened on Monday night in my weekend. Thus, no perfect 10...which I had going until then. The story as part of "Howz Yer Weekend?" in the 4:00 hour of the PhilCast today.

In the 3:00 hour we debut year three of Pack Yak, previewing the season and the season-opening game this coming Sunday against the 49er's.

Rich Ratay and I will be joined by Bill Scott today as well.

Plus we've added a segment called PACKaPEEL with our associate producer Peel bringing us some audio and stories from the Packers' locker room where he'll be covering this season for the PhilCast.

4th of July on 1st of Sept.

Saturday, Sep, 1 2012

September has arrived and I can't wait for the fireworks!

Back on the 4th of July weekend our PhilCast West fireworks at the lake house were postponed due to a burning ban back when we were in the middle of a drought.

So tonight the evening will be capped with fireworks, ending a day of family fun. I've got the camera and some neighbor's unprotected internet, spotty as it is, out here so if Reggie the Producer makes the trip to see PC West for the first time I'll post proof here.

I may not get him on the wake board, but by God I'll try to make him at least eat his corn on the cob outside!

Labor Day Weekend

Friday, Aug, 31 2012

Labor Day Weekend.

So, "Chadoin' This Weekend?"
Got plans? Got an event to plug? Call us live in the 4:00 hour of the PhilCast or go to the show's Facebook fan page and post something about your plans. CLICK HERE to get there directly.

As for me...

Well, I've got some serious corn roasting to do on Saturday when we host a belated birthday party for me and my two brothers-in-law named Jim. We all have birthdays at about the same time, and ironically they happen at about the same time each year.

I grill.

We eat.

We toss.

I set up a bucket in a fire pit area and when each person is finished with their corn we do a corn toss to see who can hurl their empty husk into the bucket.

It's sort of NBA meets down on the farm.

I can toss a good corn, but it's been a long time since I've won the family title at the annual toss. I'd write more about it all, but I've gotta go out to the backyard and practice my tossing now.

Happy Labor Day Weekend.

The PhilCast returns with this season's debut of Pack Yak on Tuesday.

Packer Time, lets YAK

Thursday, Aug, 30 2012

A lot has happened since the end of the last Packers' season, including the fact that "Pack Yak" co-host Rich Ratay went all A.J. Hawk on us in the off season!

The Yak is back!
Year three of the PhilCast Pack Yak kicks off on Tuesday of next week as we preview the team and the season on the opening edition of the show.

Then each week (usually on Monday's following the games) we'll yak about the Pack for the first hour of the show, including YOUR calls, emails and Facebook posts about the game. This is a two-way interactive street, so get involved and yak along with us as we go through the ups and downs of our beloved Packers' season on the road to the Super Bowl. SUPER BOWL.

New this year I'm adding a segment of Pack Yak called "Pack-a-PEEL". Associate PhilCast producer Peel will be covering the team for us and sharing some stories and audio from the locker room the day after game day.

And once again this year we are proud to announce that Insta Print Plus of Appleton is the sponsor of Pack Yak for the second year in a row. Welcome back!

GO PACK GO

For the birds

Wednesday, Aug, 29 2012

Many of us have bird feeders in our yards.
I know we enjoy watching our fine feathered friends stop over for a bite to eat.
You'd think having a bird feeder in your own yard would never be an issue big enough to end up in the legal system. You'd be wrong about that.

Today on the PhilCast one of the stories I have to discuss with you is about a woman who is being taken to court because she likes to feed the birds.

Neighbors say too many birds are making too much mess in their yards.

They say the seed droppings are attracting rats too.

They want her to stop.

Sounds a little crazy to me, but who is going to win in this case. I'll have the details.

Also Wednesday....

Appleton's cycling history...there's a book coming out and an actual tour you can take next week.
The head of that tour joins me on the show at 4:30-ish today to chat more about it all.
