Robbed in an elevator

Monday, May, 11 2015

First of all, after writing the headline to this blog all I can think of is singing the Aerosmith song...

Anyway, yes, robbed in an elevator in Florida, here is the video that goes with the story I'll be including in Monday's PhilCast.

This knot head forgets that the door is closing and walks right into it after jacking an old lady.

Flower Power

Saturday, May, 9 2015

Thanks to all the great fans who visited with me at the Plant Station in Appleton on Friday.

As always, I wish I had more time to chat with you, but duty calls and a broadcaster has to broadcast you know.

Thanks to the Plant Station for having us as well. They donated over a dozen wonderful hanging baskets to grace our new prize wheel.

PhilCast on the road

Friday, May, 8 2015

I'll be doing the entire PhilCast from "The Plant Station" in Appleton Friday.

Stop over to do some shopping for plants and flowers and say hi during the broadcast.

And for the first time ever, I'll have the PhilCast Wheel of Stuff there for you to spin, loaded with all kinds of prizes (and a couple of duds too) for you to win with a spin.

See you there I hope. 3-6 Friday afternoon.

Biking the bridge

Wednesday, May, 6 2015

I found this photo posted by the Post-Crescent newspaper quite powerful and relatable for me.

I think I will stop and do the same thing the next time I ride over the Trestle Trail Bridge, which will be very soon because it is a regular route of my many cycling routes.

As I tweeted to one of the paper's reporters, Jen, I don't know how I ever ride over that bridge again and not think of what happened there.

That's part of the damage that people like the shooter do to the community in the big picture when they do what he did.

But if you stop doing whatever it is that you were doing out of fear, then they win, which I won't be a part of.

So I'll ride...and probably with great respect and sorrow (like this rider) stop and remember the first time I go back across the water there since the senseless act of violence on Sunday evening.

Thanksgiving a real turkey?

Tuesday, May, 5 2015

As it turns out I now have a reason to pay attention to the bird flu story.

Up until now....not so much.

But now....
Now that my favorite holiday of the year could be compromised, I'm actually interested in the story.

Seems this bird flu could have an impact on the number of delicious turkeys available for the feast come November.

I'll have the complete story as part of the Tuesday PhilCast.
